People THINK that I travel with excess baggage or over weight. It’s so not true. On the contrary, I’m, a super light packer. And pretty efficient if I say so myself.
Did you know that I try on every outfit, take photos and make mental notes even before I pack it? That way, you don’t waste precious luggage space and weight on clothes that you end up not using. Plus if you’re travelling with kids, you don’t need to scramble trying on different outfits that don’t even fit. Trust me, TRY IT.
For long haul, extended stay (around 2 weeks) and if I’m travelling with kids especially during winter season ~ I’m in “uniform”. I usually bring around 10 turtle neck shirts and 10 leggings/thermals which I layer. My technique: I bring 2-3 different jackets to change up my look.
Underneath all those jackets is the exact same outfit which I’ve been wearing throughout the whole trip. IDEA: You can bring different pair of sunglasses to give a totally different look. I USED to do that but got lazy.
Seriously, I’ve been doing this for years. I just bring a few “outerwear” options so that I don’t get bored with myself. Plus, it’s your “outerwear” that will really be noticed when you immortalize the moment through a photo. THIS is the reason why I love wearing black. It’s not obvious that you’re on repeat!
But the big question is, how do I pack everything and make these “bulky” items fit in one suitcase?
Watch my video, here:
Take note: If I’m travelling for leisure, I only bring one suitcase of my daily necessities. IF I do bring an extra suitcase, it’s empty. That space is saved for shopping. hahaha! *wink*
If you follow me on my IG then you already know my secret. We do the laundry when were close to running out of clean clothes. It’s so easy IF you’re washing everything that’s black! Note: These turtle neck and leggings are around 10 years old and only come out during winter season. They’re on major REUSE, RECYCLE and REPEAT. And yes, I’ve been using Downy ever since I learned how to do my own laundry ~ during my college days in the US, 1999. It conditions my clothes and helps keep it in tip top shape. Look, my black is still black and hasn’t faded! Note: Tops and leggings are a mix of H&M, Zara and Uniqulo.
In a nut shell. Here are my travel and packing tips:
- 1. Bring a “uniform” but accessorize & style your outfits differently for more variation. You can change up your lipstick, add a hat, necklace or change or sunglasses. It’s the details!
2. For long trips, do the laundry. Note: We NEVER have it done in the hotel. My husband and I look for the closest laundromat, buy laundry detergent & Downy in the supermarket OR sometimes I bring it from Manila.
3. Vacuum storage packs are KEY! It will free you the space in your luggage. Trust me!
Til my next post… pack light so you can shop more!
