Are you looking to start a designer bag collection? I’m not really an expert on this but if there’s one thing I do know how to do, it’s mix, match and shop. But before I start sharing my thoughts, opinions and reviews on my growing bag collection, lets get down to the basics of how I developed my little love affair with designer bags.
- 1. My very first designer bag was a nylon Prada Backpack which I got when I entered High School, used throughout college and even made it into a diaper bag when my daughter was still a newborn. I slowly accumulated and started collecting all the other small items to match it from my wallet, pencil case and at that time I used to call the cosmetic case a “kikay kit”. Believe it or not, the Prada backpack is still very much alive. My 13 year old daughter still uses it because it still looks exactly the same. Amazing right?!
2. The bag that I bought on my own and very first paycheque was a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30. I was 23 years old and a single mom. Since Danielle was already in school at that time and I was paying for her nanny and tuition fees, I would save a portion of what I was earning for my shopping funds. Luckily, I was still living with my parents and didn’t have any other expenses!
3. Balenciaga was the first brand that I started seriously collecting. Although, I cant take credit for all of my Balenciaga bags since a few of them I asked my mom to buy for me especially since I had an extension to her credit cards. haha! Nevertheless, I’ve managed to build up a pretty good collection which I currently share with my daughter, Danielle.
Investing in a good designer bag will go a long way. Imagine, my bags which I purchased over two decades ago have been passed on to my 13 year old daughter and are still in very good condition. I can’t wait to share with you some of the vintage bags I own too!
In the meantime, you can browse or shop for some of the bags which I’ve pre-selected:
What about you? Do you have any memories about your first designer bag?
Til my next post…. HAPPY SHOPPING!
