I have a thing for collared tops and poplin shirts. Poplin is actually a kind of weave that has an upside of making clothes easy to iron. It actually gives the perfect “gusot mayaman” look. Translating it in english doesn’t sound right so I just leave it at that. haha! (Styling tip: a blowdryer can sub as an iron. Just stretch out the fabric and blow-dry in high heat!)
I’m no longer as young as I used to be so I layer clothing and cover up whenever I go to the beach. My key essential: a nice buttoned down oversized poplin shirt!
Remember those days when women found wearing their boyfriend’s long sleeve polo shirt sexy -the whole messy bun, wear your boyfriend’s day old long sleeves shirt after sex look? Well, now-a-days you don’t need a man’s shirt to pull off this look since most brands make them for women now. Hooray!
Personally, I find one piece bathing suits and oversized shirts even more sexy than a tiny bikini. It leaves more for the imagination and the layering just spells: style. But then again, it might just be me sharing my thoughts out loud. hehe.
At the end of the day, I would rather be making a statement by being over dressed and over styled -than- being plain, dressing like everyone else and style-less. One of my greatest fears in life is to just blend in: I dare you to be different and urge you to BE YOURSELF!
